TGA - Group Project 3:  Shoot 'em up

Summary

​​Travel inside the body of a human as medicine, a true hero whose job is to annihiliate all germs it encounters.

Specifications

  • 8 weeks, Half time (4 hours a day)

  • Game built with TGA 2D Engine

  • Levels edited and exported with Tiled Editor

  • 3 levels in total, 10-20 minutes of gameplay

Our level design tools

Tiled Editor - Level design

We used Tiled Editor to build up a work template and put together our levels. At the end of the project, each tiled worked like a spawner for a certain enemy with a certain behaviour. Initially we designed both gameplay and environment, but due to technical limitations in later stage of development, we level designers ended up only implementing gameplay. 
 

JSON files - Controlling data

We directly edited json files via Visual Studio to control gameplay parameters, enemy move patterns, bullet patterns, and also used it to map together level editor tiles with corresponding gameplay object and art. 

Photoshop - Illustration and tiles

We level designers got in charge of the game design and documenting our features, so we put together some illustrations. Also we created placeholder tiles for the Tiled Editor.
